THE DEVELOPMENT OF KEMIRI REUTEALIS TRISPERMA IN INDONESIA

 

Our Company, PT Bahtera Hijau Lestari Indonesia (BHLI) an agro industry company which is focus on Biorenewable, since 2006 has been intensively researching and developing Kemiri Reutealis Trisperma and its production. Based on our research, Kemiri Reutealis Trisperma can produce plant oil as raw material of biodiesel while its canopy functions as conservation crop. The plant oil is not edible oil because it s toxic. it also indicates that Kemiri Reutealis Trisperma has very high potential biodiesel oil compare to other known crops.

 

In 2008, BHLI has planted more than 60.000 trees of Kemiri Reutealis Trisperma in unused land at West Java Indonesia. These plantings are in line with Government program i.e. land Rehabilitation program under Agricultural Department of Republic of Indonesia

 

 

For elaborating our basic research, in April 2009, we have made Joint Agreement with BALITTRI (Balai Penelitian Tanaman Rempah Dan Aneka Tanaman Industri - Indonesian Spice and Industrial Crops Research Institute, ISICRI, http://balittri.litbang.deptan.go.id/) for further research.

 

BHLI has also engaged with local community at Majalengka, west Java Indonesia i.e. local cooperative and Majalengka Forestry Department for Planting and Off-taking the product of Kemiri Reutealis Trisperma. This kind of engagement is an effort from BHLI for increasing Kemiri Reutealis Trisperma supply in the next 3 years.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  

Besides, for agriculture Industry purposes, Kemiri Reutealis Trisperma tree is also good for Water and land   Rehabilitation purposes. So in 2009, BHLI has also made MoU and  planted more than 200.000 trees with several parties for that purposes with Department of Forestry of Indonesia and also Non Government Organization such as:

  • Department of Forestry (Balai Penelitian Kehutanan – Forestry Research Institute)
  • Gapoktan - Farmer Cell Group
  • SVD ( Societas Verbi Divini) – Timor
  • Member of FORDEF (Forestry Research and Development Forum) – Forum Litbang Kehutanan
  • Sponsoring Planting 100.000 Kemiri Minyak trees  at Jatigede Reservoir for Cimanuk Drainage basin Conservation Area

 

BHLI has been also developing its seedling plantation in the areal of 6 Ha in Subang, West Java. From this seedling plantation, it can supply more than 100.000 Ha per year planting surrounding Indonesia.
