Sunan Candlenut (Kemiri Sunan – Aleurites trisperma BLANCO) is an indigenous tree of the Philippines. Many years ago, this plantation was planted in big scale plantation at Karawaci and Cilongok, Tangerang, West Java as an oil tree (Heyne, 1987).
At that time, many of the seeds of Sunan Candlenut were bought by Chinese Entrepenuer, so it was well knows as Chinese Candlenut.
Nowadays, Wild Sunan Candlenut are mostly planted around Bandung, Sumedang and Majalengka. Local People call that tree as Bandung Candlenut (Bandung), Jatropha Bandung (Majalengka) or China Candlenut (Jakarta).
